British Youth Council’s Rosina St James on employment
FE News chats with Rosina St James, chair of the British Youth Council, to discuss her ideas to tackle youth unemployment.
Rosina suggested reinstating compulsory and relevant work experience, and the development of an interactive Work Experience Hub, where young people could an interactive resource to be able to ‘rate their placement’ whilst on programmes.
She also believes local businesses should be encouraged to visit schools and give talks about what employers are looking for, which would provide encouragement for young people to have aspirations to move into a career.
