Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) (formerly the Lifelong Loan Entitlement) is a pioneering educational policy introduced by the UK government. Published on the 19th of September 2023 and set to take place from September 2025. It offers people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to engage in continuous learning development throughout their careers. Whether you’re looking to pursue traditional academic courses, vocational training, apprenticeships, or online learning, LLE provides a diverse range of pathways.
Under the LLE, eligible learners will be able to access a tuition fees loan, with new learners able to access up to the full entitlement of £37,000 and a maintenance loan – to cover living costs. The government is introducing a fair credit-based method for setting fee limits that will work across all higher-level courses and modules the LLE funds. This is regardless of whether students study them on a full-time, part-time, or accelerated basis. This means that the fee limit will directly relate to the amount of study in the course, rather than the number of academic years which are studied.
With flexible learning options, career advancement opportunities, and a commitment to staying current, Lifelong Learning Entitlement is reshaping education in the UK.
