After almost 18 months of career uncertainty as a result of the pandemic, workers have entered the second half of 2021 with renewed optimism and confidence to take back control of their career choices.
Employers are now facing an uphill task to attract and retain top talent amid significant skills shortages across a multitude of sectors as the UK enters ‘The Great Resignation’, with the prospect of mass resignations a constant threat to businesses.

Job hunting is at an all time high, with thousands of job searches on FE News in the past 2 months, as applicants look to start, or progress their career in Further Education Teaching and Skills.
This could be attributed to the usual cases of itchy feet come the new year with the effects of Covid-19 very likely to have further influenced the “Big Quit”.
Searches for the job-application website, Indeed, were also at an all-time high as of January 2022.
What’s more, it seems that escaping the office environment is the top priority for Brits, with paramedic and counsellor ranking as the most in-demand positions.
The findings were uncovered by office furniture specialists, EZ Shopper, who used search data to assess the current state of what has been termed “the Great Resignation”.
