What is COP28?
COP28, the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Expo City, Dubai, from November 30 to December 12, 2023. As part of the UNFCCC framework, COP conferences are crucial global gatherings to address climate change, formulate actions, and strive to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.
What is the goal for COP28?
COP28 UAE aims to be a transformative moment for global collaboration to address climate change, limit emissions, and work towards keeping the global temperature increase within the 1.5-degree Celsius target set by the Paris Agreement.
What are the Event Zones?
Blue Zone: Managed by UNFCCC, this zone is open to accredited parties, observer delegates, media, and world leaders. It hosts formal negotiations, official side events, and various discussions.
Green Zone: Managed by the COP28 UAE Presidency, it provides a platform for non-accredited delegates, including youth groups, civil society, private sector, and indigenous groups, fostering dialogue and awareness about climate action. The Green Zone emphasises collaboration between governments and the private sector to address climate change, showcasing innovative solutions and technologies.
