Things students want easy access to around their University Campus
Ever been a student, feeling a bit lost when starting a new chapter in your life not knowing where your favourite type of places and commodities are? This is something most students struggle with when relocating to a new city, or even country, being accepted to a new (to them) University.
What’s interesting to learn is that although most students look for the same overarching things as food, accommodation, shopping, essentials, travel, and things to see and do, there’s a big difference in particulars they look for depending on which country they’re from.
Whilst students from the United States look for car rentals to be able to drive around themselves and explore, students from Ghana are in the hopes of learning how to drive as they search for driving schools. Students from the UK and India on the other hand, prefer public transport as they search for train stations and bus stops.
Grocery stores and thrift stores are common shops students look for, perhaps to save money, but UK students also want tech stores and florists close by to campus.
Looking at restaurant options, there’s perhaps no surprise that American students search for Starbuck and Dominos and Brits for Indian restaurants.
The biggest difference between what students from these countries are searching for is when looking at things to do and what they find to be essentials. Students from India are keen to visit a cybercafé whilst Nigerian students look for a spa and US and UK students for movie theatres and golf courses.
UK students, alongside German students want to regularly attend a boxing gym. In common amongst all nationalities, students want to know where the nearest hospital, banks, church, and storage is. Nigerians are also keen to find out where the closes day care is, Indians look for dentists and students from Ghana wants easy access to a post office.
