From education to employment

YMCA Awards strengthens leadership team with two senior appointments

One of the UK’s leading awarding bodies, YMCA Awards, has bolstered its leadership team with two senior appointments as it looks to prioritise customer experience and quality throughout 2017.

Dr. Fiona Summers has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Quality and Compliance at the awarding organisation – which works with learning providers and businesses to deliver qualifications to those aspiring to a career in the active leisure sector.

Fiona brings with her vast experience in the industry, having previously worked at awarding body Ascentis. She will lead on improving external quality assurance, as well as rolling out a range of new learning services in 2017 including bespoke training days, webinars and e-clinics.

Also joining YMCA Awards’ leadership team is Simon Titley who takes up the role of Head of Centre Support. Simon previously worked at Pearson, the world’s largest education company, designing creative customer experience initiatives and supporting learners and businesses through the training journey. He was recruited to the role on the basis of his expertise in designing and setting-up creative customer and learner support initiatives.

These senior appointments establish a five-strong leadership team at the helm of the organisation, which will guide YMCA Awards as it aims to become a global education brand, providing access to high quality learning and assessment and industry-backed credentials which open up career opportunities.

Rob May, Director at YMCA Awards, said: “These two new appointments reflect the growth of our organisation over the past year. We’ve now awarded around 500,000 qualifications and are working with some of the UK’s best known businesses.

“We’re delighted to welcome Fiona and Simon to the team. They will be instrumental in ensuring our qualifications and new digital learning tools meet the highest quality and usability standards, while we continue to maintain strong relationships with our new and existing customers. We’ll also be working with more fitness centres than ever, offering them access to a wider range of teaching and learning options, so Fiona and Simon’s experience will mean the team is perfectly placed to deliver this.”
