Employers from across West London have supported Hospitality & Catering students to raise funds to attend a National Seafood Competition. The students, who all attend West London College, organised an Irish inspired dinner at their own student-run restaurant, TASTE.

Preparing a three-course meal for St Patrick’s Day, the event invited local residents along with staff and student to enjoy Limerick style smoked gammon steak as well as entertainment, including music and a fundraising raffle of over 50 prizes donated by the employers.

The event underlined the College’s commitment to inspiring and enriching the learner journey through work experience.  Denise Charles, Head of Curriculum for Service Industries, said: “The Fundraising Dinner in TASTE was a great example of how the hospitality and catering department collaborates with employers to support the students’ experience in furthering their education, skills and knowledge.

“Competitions are great for enriching the learning experience of our students and we thank all of our employer partners for helping us to raise so much and supporting this great initiative.”

With help from supporters, the Hospitality & Catering students raised over £450. They also had a generous donation from supplier Santa Maria, with all proceedings going towards the students’ competition fund.

The next evening dinner in TASTE Restaurant will be ‘A Fine Dining Experience’ on Tuesday 14 May.

West London College courses offer learners with opportunities to work and collaborate with industry professionals to develop their skills in real work environments.
