Virtual course in team and leadership development hailed a success by University team
One of UK’s pioneering leadership coaches for a new and ‘transformational’ approach in team and leadership development has provided training to a team within world ranking @SheffieldUni following the events of 2020.
Neil Jurd, a former Sandhurst instructor, launched his new virtual course in a bid to enable team leaders and managers in education to weather adversity as they lead their businesses through a wave of challenges.
A team within the University of Sheffield, which recently achieved seven top 100 spots in global subject rankings, attended the course just as the second lockdown was announced in England.
Director of student recruitment, marketing and admissions at the University of Sheffield Dan Barcroft said: “Neil’s approach to leadership and team development is transformational. His course covers a broad range of topics that develop established ideas on team leadership that insist on incorporating personal authenticity, deep self-awareness and compassion, all centred on forming and driving a shared understanding of vision and purpose within your context.
“I’ve experienced, first hand, the impact and success that deploying this approach to a number of teams in different Universities have had in building stronger, better connected and more impactful teams. I’d highly recommend this course to those who are looking to further and challenge their own practice and that of their teams.”
The virtual learning course has also been bought by high-profile clients including the NHS England Crisis Management and Resilience team, Alertacall and Scotland’s Independent Living Fund to help them navigate these uncertain times.
Neil has delivered inspirational and influential talks to the likes of The Directors’ Forum, University of Cumbria and Commonwealth Games Team Scotland.
He said: “It’s a difficult time for hundreds of universities across the globe at the moment, with education disrupted and some students struggling to find reassurance about their future, good leadership in the world of education is needed now more than ever,
“With staff and students having to work in different and difficult conditions, it’s so important that senior leaders are able to support their team in an efficient manner. In order to survive this pandemic, universities and schools need to change their approach not only on teaching but also on how they can support their students.”
Neil’s new course is made up of 30 bespoke videos totalling four hours of leadership and development training.
The videos give users an understanding of leadership, how to build a successful team and how to apply leadership in an effective and positive manner.
Neil is also launching a book on leadership and team development due to come out in December.
Neil Jurd is founder of Neil Jurd Leadership and works with senior leaders across the UK.
