UK’s largest employability celebration returns #EmpDay19

The fourth UK Employability Day has been announced for Friday 28 June 2019. The date was announced at ERSA’s annual conference with the Minister for Disabilities and Shadow Minister for Employment.

Over a thousand charities, businesses and employers across the UK will join the biggest celebration for organisations supporting local people into employment. Employability Day aims to raise awareness of their hard work and build understanding locally and nationally. 

Last year, over 700 organisations joined the celebrations, including community groups, charities, training providers, high street retailers, housing associations and local authorities. Dozens of high-profile stakeholders got involved, with business leaders, Ministers and those responsible for community change taking part in events across the UK.

Employability Day 2019 takes place during a pivotal year as we seek to build an inclusive society after Brexit. It’s time to start planning an event to demonstrate the positive difference employment support makes to people’s lives.

Why not host a jobs fair, activity morning or street stalls and invite local representatives? Or host a debate, report launch or open day? There are endless ways to get involved in next year’s celebration.

Employability Day is coordinated by ERSA, the representative body for the employment support sector.

“Every day, employment support helps people into work, improves lives and strengthens communities. Employability Day is the perfect platform for frontline organisations and employers to demonstrate the work they do to serve their local areas, from running advice sessions, delivering training or connecting people to local job opportunities.

“Employability Day 2019 will no doubt build on last year’s mammoth success to be the biggest celebration so far, helping to highlight the extraordinary support being delivered in communities across the UK.”

Employability Day is coordinated by the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), the representative body for the employment support sector.

In 2018, over 70 stakeholders took part in Employability Day, including MPs, Mayors, local politicians and eight Ministers and Shadow Ministers: Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, Minister for Employment, Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Minister for Family Support, Minister for Housing, Minister for the Northern Powerhouse and Local Growth, Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and Scottish Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills.

ERSA has over 270 members spanning the public, private and voluntary sectors, with nearly 80% drawn from the not for profit sector. ERSA’s membership is drawn from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with dedicated networks, in Scotland (Employment Support Scotland), Greater Manchester, London and the West Midlands.
