Online educational publisher, Twinkl named eCommerce Company of the Year
The Sheffield-based business was named eCommerce Company of the Year (Small) at the Northern eCommerce Awards
Now 10 years old, Twinkl was founded by Jonathan and Susie Seaton – a solicitor and primary school teacher respectively – who had become frustrated with the lack of resources available to educators. The couple began creating resources from their spare room and with that, Twinkl was born.
Twinkl now provides over 675,000 teaching materials, with new resources added daily, and offers alternative ways of learning, such as through mobile apps, augmented reality, and 3D learning.
Over the last three years the company has grown by 45-50% YOY and currently has over 700 team members across the globe. However, as Twinkl expanded, it wanted to continue to deliver the best payment experiences to its customers in terms of payment method choice and flexibility around subscriptions.
In 2019, Twinkl partnered with Adyen (which works with some of the world’s largest subscription models, including Hello Fresh and Spotify) to optimise its customer journey in every market. Adyen, supports the global online educational publisher, Twinkl, to improve its international subscription payments.
Katy Gaunt, Head of Finance at Twinkl, commented,
“We went live with Adyen in June 2019 and couldn’t be happier. A few key things stand out for me. Firstly, Adyen’s platform is extremely clear and easy to use – we’re able to manage all of our customer’s payment data in one place, while detailed insights allow us to do more to improve the customer experience.
“Secondly, as we now extend across over 185 countries, the introduction of new alternative payment methods has been extremely beneficial in supporting our global growth and keeping international customers happy.”
After a year in partnership, Twinkl (supported by Adyen) was named winner of the eCommerce Company of the Year (Small) at the Northern eCommerce Awards. The award is a recognition of the online community Twinkl has created, with the support of partners like Adyen. In particular it recognises Twinkl’s response to the pandemic during which it offered all of its resources, over 630,000 at the time, for free and created a bespoke Home Learning Hub to support parents, carers and teachers around the world with home-schooling.
Colin Neil, SVP Business Development at Adyen UK, added,
“Twinkl is a genuine world leader. It has achieved amazing things in such a short space of time, and we’re so pleased to be supporting its growth around the world.
“The work Twinkl has done during this year to help parents and educators has been inspiring, and we at Adyen are delighted to have been able to support this. We’re thrilled to see Twinkl named the eCommerce Company of the Year and we look forward to working with Twinkl in the future as it continues its journey.”
