Borders College facilitates World Host training for Timber frame company
Twelve members of staff from a timber frame self-build company based in Duns have just completed the renowned World Host: The Principals of Customer Service training at the Borders College Business Development Unit in Hawick.
Fleming Homes employees Craig Fairbairn, Sally Martin, David Loomis, Marisa Thomas, Stephen Scott, Michael Burns, David Buchan, Josh Herbert, David Hutchison, Asher Humphrey-Martin, Maria Koeva and Jason Hartley, from the Sales Team which includes Customer Services, the Design and Technical Team and Management, took time out from their busy schedules to attend the one-day training session. The employees spent the day with tutor Stephanie Bell doing various activities aimed at improving their customer service skills.
Borders College has been facilitating the World Host training for a number of years, with the course being part of a National Government campaign designed to increase the awareness of high quality experiences for visitors coming to Scotland. The course provides a Gold Standard in training for anyone wishing to work in business that relies on day-to-day interaction with customers.
Susan Rennie, Business Skills Manager at Borders College, commented:
“The Business Development Unit (BDU), here at Borders College in Hawick, are delighted to have been approached by Fleming Homes to develop a working relationship and assist in meeting their training needs.”
The session, which focuses on excellent customer service and encourages courtesy, friendliness and professionalism – essential for a successful business, was enjoyed by all.
Sarah Mathieson, Managing Director of Fleming Homes, commented:
“There are no excuses for poor customer service. We encourage each other to go the extra mile day after day, but we also recognise that it’s important to revisit what good customer service means from time to time. The World Host course enables us to do this, using expert facilitation and superb content. It was an excellent investment of both time and budget”
