Professor Malcolm Press brings considerable senior-level experience to the role from the higher education sector.
Malcolm is Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University and previously worked at the Universities of Birmingham, Sheffield, and Manchester.
He is an ecologist and currently a trustee of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

“I look forward to playing a role in driving up the knowledge and skills base for the benefit of individuals, the economy and society.”
Antony Jenkins, Chair of the Institute for Apprenticeships, said:
I’m delighted to welcome Jessica and Malcolm to the Board, at what is a critical juncture for the Institute as it prepares to take on responsibility for the delivery of technical education. They will bring an impressive blend of business, technical and higher education experience and expertise to the Board, playing a key role in supporting the Institute during the next phase of its growth. I look forward to working closely with them on the challenges ahead.
