Teachers’ pensions scheme consultation closes
As the Department for Education’s (DfE) consultation on the increase to employer contributions to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme in 2019 to 2020: closes today (12 February), Stephanie Mason, head of further education at RSM questions whether the current proposal will solve the underlining financial burden that the growing pension contributions is having across the sector:
“Although any extra funding will be welcomed by the sector, the current proposal doesn’t solve the underlining financial burden that the growing pension contributions is having across the sector.
“With a real risk of insolvency for struggling FE institutions after the formal insolvency regime came into force last month, education organisations need more clarity and support on longer term funding to alleviate the growing financial pressure on them, to ensure a sustainable future for students.”
