Sussex Skills Solutions launches new courses to help unemployed people get back into work

Sussex Skills Solutions, the apprenticeship and skills training arm of East Sussex College, will be launching a range of new courses specifically designed to help unemployed people get back into work.

The courses will equip people with the skills they need to get back on the career ladder and focus on developing three core elements:

1. Knowledge
2. Skills
3. Behaviours

The programmes range from short, intensive ‘sector-based work academies’ to term-long courses to secure qualifications in English and maths.

Sussex Skills Solutions will be launching these exciting new courses on Friday 21st June at the Station Plaza campus in Hastings. The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Amber Rudd, will be one of the keynotes speakers at the launch event, along with Louise Aitken, the Skills Lead for South East Local Enterprise Partnership, and Dan Shelley, the college’s Executive Director Strategic Partnerships & Engagement.

“Sussex Skills Solutions is now in its third successful year and we have taken the decision to expand our delivery to support adults into finding work.

“We are connected with hundreds of local business owners and it was clear that we need to create a joined-up partnership to connect these employers to those searching for work across our county.”

These new courses will be offered all-year-round and have various start dates throughout the year. They are funded through the Education & Skills Funding Agency and you will not need to pay a course fee if you are unemployed or earning less than £16,000 per year.
