Bradford College students train in first aid

A group of Bradford College students have volunteered for extra lessons – in first aid.

Eleven students gave up their spare time to learn life-saving kills on a three-day course.

Key topics covered included being able to deliver cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to place an unconscious individual into the recovery position and how to deal with a severe bleed.

The course was offered as part of the Bradford College Plus scheme which aims to provide students with valuable experience, knowledge and skills that are sought-after by prospective employers and higher education providers.

Lauren Pickles, Enrichment and Engagement Officer at Bradford College, said: “I would like to congratulate the 11 students who gave up a large part of their February half term to complete the First Aid at Work course.

“The idea for this as an enrichment activity came from talking to students who wanted the opportunity to gain more in-depth first aid knowledge and expertise.

“First aid training is invaluable and has the power to saves lives. This course not only provided our students with the right skills and expertise, but also the confidence to help in a medical emergency. Well done everyone!”

The students who completed the course were presented with certificates by the recently-appointed Chief Executive Officer of Bradford College, Chris Webb.
