Spanish teacher wins two awards in one night

CALAT Spanish teacher Jose Pavon-Lopez had an especially successful night at the Croydon CALAT Festival of Learning when he won not only Staff Member of the Year, but also saw one of his higher level Spanish classes also win an award.

The Mayor of Croydon Bernadette Khan gave out awards to a range of inspirational learners during the evening, including to Jose and his class.  Jose was voted Staff Member of the Year by CALAT learners in its first ever Festival of Learning awards. 

Jose teaches Spanish to adults at all levels from complete beginners to advanced conversation classes at CALAT’s central Croydon centre.
