South Staffordshire College, scoops best Further Education College for Apprenticeship Training award at The School Leaver Awards!
South Staffordshire College (@southstaffs) is delighted to be announced as the best Further Education College for Apprenticeship Training at The School Leaver Awards this year.
This, coupled with the year’s earlier success seeing the college recognised as the top college in the West Midlands for Apprenticeship Achievement, rewards the hard work and commitment of staff to deliver an outstanding apprenticeship provision for its apprentices.
Winners of the School Leaver Awards are selected based on the results of surveys completed by apprentices and school leavers at participating firms and training providers. Apprentices were asked to rate their experiences across a range of areas which are based on values the award hosts believe young people value when choosing an employer or training provider. These range from work-life balance, and salary to company culture and team dynamics.
John Renshaw, Director of Apprenticeships at the college says;
“Recognising the success of young people and seeing them grow in confidence and progress within their chosen careers supported by the College and employers on an Apprenticeship is incredibly rewarding. I am so proud that South Staffordshire College were selected as a finalist at The School Leaver Awards 2020, but to actually win against such strong competition is amazing and a credit to the whole team”
Sadly, the apprenticeship team didn’t get to receive their awards in person at the prestigious awards ceremony at Grosvenor House in London, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but were just as thrilled to receive the news via video call!
Kirk Hookham, Deputy CEO of South Staffordshire College said;
“We are absolutely thrilled to have our apprentice’s achievements recognised with this national award. This recognises the high-quality experience gained by studying at South Staffordshire College and of course follows on from being recognised, in the most recent national data tables, as the top performing college in the West Midlands for overall apprenticeship achievement. Staff at South Staffordshire College have worked especially hard in the last couple of years to improve our apprenticeship provision and we are pleased to see these efforts being recognised nationally.”
South Staffordshire College was also recognised as a finalist in three other categories in the 2020 School Leaver Awards; they were Top Apprenticeship Training Provider, Best Learning Experience and Best Assessment and Feedback.
