‘SHOP FOR SKILLS’ AT COLLEGE AS PART OF LEICESTER BUSINESS FESTIVAL

Business leaders and employees are being invited to browse a ‘skills supermarket’ at the Wigston Campus of North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) as part of the Leicester Business Festival next month.

The event, which will be held on Thursday 17 November 2022 from 5pm-7pm at the college’s campus in Blaby Road, follows the success of its online ‘NWSLC superstore’ concept, which was launched earlier this year, enabling individuals to access a wide of course options including free online learning. To mark the Leicester Business Festival, the college is opening up its superstore as part of an interactive event where visitors can physically shop for courses in person and even win a prize.

Local businesses will be able to speak to training professionals and advisors on how the college can support their specific workforce development needs, reduce any skills gaps, and provide guidance for employees who want to progress in their careers. Training with NWSLC can be accessed at one of our seven campuses, online or in the workplace.

Now in its eighth year, the Leicester Business Festival is staging over 80 events in the city which has recently been named the top performing city in the East Midlands in the Good Growth for Cities index.

Business can access information on:

  • Recruiting apprentices or upskilling existing employees
  • T Levels for employers
  • Workforce development.

Individuals will be able to find out about:

  • Accessing apprenticeship training
  • Part-time courses and professional qualifications
  • Online and distance learning options.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC said, “The cost-of-living crisis is affecting us all, and we know that individuals are keen to look at ways to increase their income by securing promotions and moving on in their careers.

“We have been looking at ways to make this as easy as possible, and we hope that our special skills supermarket event as part of the Leicester Business Festival will help to bring the opportunities we offer to life. This is an informal event that is open to all, and we hope visitors will have some fun as well as picking up some useful information to help them with their next career move.”
