Gower College Swansea launches Sketty Hall Business School

Gower College Swansea’s newest campus – Sketty Hall Business School – has been officially opened by the Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles.

After an ambitious refurbishment project, which received 65% funding from Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Colleges Programme, Sketty Hall has been transformed into a modern teaching space with social areas, a coffee bar and library.

The campus will now be home to a wide range of professional business and management courses, higher level qualifications and degree apprenticeships.

It will also enable the subjects of management and leadership to be introduced across the College’s wide range of provision – such as A Level and vocational courses – and will include a series of live streamed guest lectures by key industry leaders.

In addition, Sketty Hall Business School will give the College’s many commercial clients access to the very best in teaching and training facilities.

“As ever, we are grateful to Welsh Government for their support throughout the development of this project – the funding we have received from them has helped to transform the beautiful Grade II listed building into a modern teaching and learning space where we can help shape the future of education and training in the region,” says Principal, Mark Jones.

“We are proud to officially open Sketty Hall Business School and are delighted to welcome our students and industry partners to this fantastic new facility which has ultimately been developed for them,” adds Director of Skills and Business Development, Paul Kift. “Sketty Hall Business School will enable Gower College Swansea to create new and innovative programmes, helping individuals and businesses to thrive whilst supporting the Swansea Bay City Deal’s requirements.” 

The Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles, said:

“I was really pleased to visit the newly refurbished Sketty Hall Business School and see how our 21st Century Schools and Colleges Programme is being used to create fantastic learning and working spaces to support the skills of our future workforce.

“It’s great to see exciting projects like this come to fruition and I wish all the students and staff all the best in their new facility.”

And learners got an exciting taste of what is to come at Sketty Hall Business School when, immediately following the launch event, a selected group of students were invited to attend a special Q&A with former Wales and British Lions Captain, Sam Warburton.
