Profound Services launch IT and Social Media Apprenticeships
North East based Profound Services has added IT and Social Media Apprenticeships to its wide range of training and employment services.
The training provider now offers nationally recognised qualifications for individuals who wish to pursue a career in the information technology or social media sector. These apprenticeship programmes have been designed for people who want to earn while they learn, whilst gaining the skills, knowledge and experience that contemporary employers desire.
New apprenticeships include:
- Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills Intermediate Apprenticeship
- Level 3 IT Software, Web & Telecoms Advanced Apprenticeship
- Level 3 Diploma in Social Media for Business Advanced Apprenticeship
The decision is part of the company’s larger strategic plan that aims to offer a flexible curriculum that is responsive to the skills needs of learners and businesses in the local community.
Statistics published in Technology Insights 2011 by e-skills UK explained that IT user skills are required for over 72 percent of job roles and that over 90 per cent of new posts specifically require IT user skills. The report went on to summarise that there will be an increasing number of jobs whose principal activity will be using IT to support their organisations’ customers, people and processes.
Profound Services are looking to partner with North East IT companies and other businesses that would benefit from an IT or social media apprentice. Moreover, Profound are working with the Skills Funding Agency who are actively promoting an under-utilised fund that has been allocated to the area. Local companies can access the fund to train existing staff or recruit new apprentices.
Lynsey Carragher, Curriculum Developer at Profound Services, spoke about the new apprenticeships and said: “This will be a great addition to our portfolio of qualifications and will enrich our Curriculum offer. By being responsive to Labour Market Information we are providing learners and employers with more options. Learners will develop an understanding of using their communication and creative writing skills to engage with their clients online and in person. An Apprenticeship in the IT or Social Media sector will help to prepare our learners for promising future careers in the modern world of work.”
Jonathan Ward, Learner Engagement Team Leader, commented on the benefits of the Level 3 Social Media Apprenticeship and said: “Effective use of social media is now an established marketing tool, and could help businesses thrive. These apprenticeships will help learners understand the impact of social media on business and help businesses to utilize modern techniques and tools in marketing campaigns.”
