Lewisham College Production Arts students reimagine the Pantomime

Production Arts students @LewishamCollege have been working behind the scenes to incorporate innovative ideas to adapt their annual Variety Show with a filmed Pantomime performance. 

The students worked collaboratively to look at the art of reimagining performance and used a range of materials, including 3D mood boards and model boxes as an alternative way to present the traditional pantomime performance and recreate famous characters, like Aladdin, Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast. 

Asfa Sohail, Principal at Lewisham College, said: “I’m delighted to see such potential from our students during their first term at the College. It has been a challenging year for all, and I hope that this example of collaboration and creativity can bring a smile to people’s faces. 

“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Rose Bruford College to provide more opportunities to our students, so they can continue developing a diverse skill set, think creatively and gain hands-on experience.” 

Reese Maleking, Production Arts student, said: “I’m really enjoying the course as it lets my creativity flow in a different way. I really like making props, scenery, stage and events planning. I have already been offered work experience at the Young Vic Theatre.” 

The new Performing and Production Arts courses at Lewisham College are delivered in partnership with Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance. 

The College’s Creative, Performing and Production Arts provision, includes a range of courses for 16-18s and adults designed to nurture performers and creatives to develop skills in production, performance, media, art and design.
