Parents invited to Barnsley College information evening

Parents and carers of Year 11 school children will have the opportunity to find out more about the courses available at Barnsley College and Barnsley Sixth Form College at a Parent Information Evening on Wednesday 25 September, 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Making decisions on what to do after school can be a daunting task for a Year 11 pupil and the aim of the event is to provide parents with information on what is available at College so that they can support their child in making this important decision.

Barnsley College and Barnsley Sixth Form College offer courses in a range of subjects and parents will have the opportunity to chat to tutors and attend presentations on vocational courses, A Levels and apprenticeships as well as the new technical qualifications, T Levels.

Yiannis Koursis, Principal and Chief Executive at Barnsley College, said:

“Parents and carers play a crucial role in helping their children to decide which route to take after they finish school. There are a wide variety of options available at Barnsley College, from A Levels to vocational courses, apprenticeships to the new T Level qualifications, and this event aims to educate parents on the differences between each choice and which might best suit their child. If parents and carers are informed about what’s available, they can support their children to make the right decision and we are there to help every step of the way.”

The event is aimed specifically at parents and carers of Year 11 school children. There will be a further opportunity for potential students to visit the College with their parents at our forthcoming Open Days on Wednesday 16 October, 4.00pm – 7.00pm and Saturday 23 November, 11.00am – 2.00pm.
