NGO Go Dharmic & Ed Tech Specialist Klik2learn Joins Forces To Bridge Learning Gap Caused by Covid Pandemic in India
Eight-year-old Tanmay has started thinking about his career and now he is very serious about studies. “I want to be a police officer,” he said, talking about his future plan sitting in a classroom in Gandhinagar, India. Tanmay is one of the 50 students at Ratanpur Middle School, Gandhinagar, who are benefiting from Digital English language and literacy learning programme facilitated through collaboration between NGO Go Dharmic (@GoDharmic) and English language tech specialist Klik2learn (@klik2learn).
The Covid pandemic has affected children like Tanmay, and many others to lose time on their studies, as the lockdown prevented children from attending school in India for over a year. Hence, this free course and project has proven to be crucial in helping them catch up. Not only are the children learning Basic English, but also social skills such as etiquette-on how to live, talk or behave.
At a time when hundreds of children are being compelled to confront an uncertain future, Go Dharmic has come forward to provide them free education. Go Dharmic believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there’s no better place to start than in the corridors of education. Education is both the mean, as well as, the end to a better life. The organization believes that education can empower an individual to earn his/her livelihood and at the end increase one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare, to appropriate social behavior to understanding one’s rights, and in the process also evolve as a better citizen.
Under the initiative, Klik2learn is providing the school teachers and children with licenses for the Digital Learning Hub. The Hub provides collaboration tools and a full English language course, Journey 2 Basic Skills, under which students can learn English as well as basic literacy and numeracy skills using smart phones. Journey 2 Basic Skills, specifically launched to meet the needs of beginners. The program has won the coveted British Council ELTon award for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in 2020. Within the creation of the program is also a new guide to introduce the children to the course and how it works.
Go Dharmic’s Chairman & Founder, Hanuman Dass says:
“Since children represent the country’s future, our team commenced this initiative along with Klik2Learn to sincerely contribute to ensuring that the education of school children is not affected due to lack of several things.” Go Dharmic is working directly with the school principal and teachers in Ahmedabad to provide learning support and technical support.
Go Dharmic’s goal is to bring people together to create positive change in lives and communities. Through Klik2learn, Go Dharmic found a digital education partner with the same compassionate vision to change people’s lives- with high quality English language courses that puts teachers at the heart of the solution. Klik2learn’s focus is on creating digital English language courses for self-study combined with teacher tools and reports to improve collaboration and learning outcomes for each student.
