All of CAVC’s BTEC Journalism students will automatically benefit from the Academy as part of their course, benefitting from an in-depth introduction to media and journalism, exclusive trips to media locations in the UK and much more! There will be additional spaces on the Media Academy that students from other subject areas across the College, such as sport and media, that have an interest in the industry and want to take part alongside their course.
And it’s not just members of the Academy that will benefit from Jason’s knowledge and expertise, a series of one-off workshops will be held throughout the academic year, online and on campus, for CAVC students to gain insight into specific themes and hear from professional sporting stars and individuals from across the industry.
Jason said:
“I am so thrilled to be teaming up with CAVC for the first ever Jason Mohammad Academy. It’s my old college too – where I did my A Levels – so to be back here advising and helping young students get into TV, film, radio and podcasting seems like a homecoming!
“I hosted my first ever roadshow with the College back in January 2020 and knew than it was the start of something special.
“The students who attended my masterclasses have gone on to work for a major film studio and one started a journalism course at university. I hope many more will come to CAVC to study and be part of my new Academy and become the presenters, film-makers, producers and journalists of the future.”
Cardiff and Vale College Deputy Principal Sharon James said:
“We are proud to have Jason as an alumni of CAVC and he has been a friend of the College for a long time so we’re delighted to be working with him on the first ever Jason Mohammad Academy.
“Film and broadcast and huge growth areas for the Welsh economy and initiatives like the Jason Mohammad Academy will do vital work to address skills gaps in the creative industries and help to diversify the future workforce. It will provide students the opportunity to gain further skills on top of their main qualification and benefit from Jason’s range of experience – inspiring them, teaching them valuable skills for a future in broadcast or film-making and providing a stand-out addition to their CV as they start off in the industry.”
