Newham College Partners With Huawei

Newham College’s digital training provider, Digital Skills Solutions, has partnered with Huawei, one of the largest telecommunications equipment and services providers worldwide, to open a Huawei ICT Academy in Newham. The Academy will offer a range of exclusive courses designed to provide individuals with the high-level technical skills required by employers across all sectors.

Huawei currently works with over 400 universities and colleges to operate Huawei ICT Academies across China, North America, Europe, Australia and more. The Academy trains over 16,200 students internationally each year. Newham College gained official status as a Huawei ICT Academy at the UK’s largest experiential skills, apprenticeships and career event WorldSkills UK on the 16th November. This marked the launch of Huawei’s fourteen latest UK based ICT UK Academies and made Newham College one of twenty British colleges and universities that are part of the initiative.

The outcome for students will lead to industry recognised certifications with employability skills and a range of job opportunities in the ICT sector. This includes full time employment, internships, work placements, HR guidance and practical activities that relate to recruitment. The Huawei ICT Academy program also runs a global annual ICT Competition for students, giving local country winners the opportunity to visit China for the finals and compete with other students on a global scale.
