Newcastle College up for Five Educate the North Awards
Newcastle College is extremely proud to announce it has been shortlisted in five categories at this year’s Educate the North awards, across further and higher education.
The Educate the North Awards is a prestigious annual awards event which celebrates, recognises and shares best practice and excellence in the education sector in the North.
The College has been shortlisted for two awards in the Business and Industry Collaboration in the HE/FE sector, for its work with Responsive Engineering (part of the Reece Group), to upskill 10 members of its existing workforce through a bespoke delivery of a Foundation Degree and for its collaboration with The Launch Group, working to utilise Adult Education Budget (AEB) funds to help those not in education or training to access employment opportunities within the aviation sector.
Its partnership with the ORE Catapult and the launch of the world’s most advanced immersive Hybrid Reality (iHR) training system for the offshore wind industry in its Energy Academy has also been shortlisted in the Business Collaboration and Partnerships category.
Newcastle College University Centre is in the running for a further two awards – Student Experience in the FE/HE Sector (for its Student as Producer Initiative) and Research Team of the Year.
Principal Tony Lewin commented:
“It is a fantastic achievement to be shortlisted in so many categories at this year’s Educate the North Awards.
“Industry and employer collaboration is at the centre of everything we do at Newcastle College and to make the shortlist for two of these key partnerships is great recognition that they have a positive impact on students and on combatting skills gaps in the relevant areas.
“It is also fantastic to see Newcastle College University Centre recognised for the student experience it offers as a higher education provider within a college setting.
“These nominations see Newcastle College and the University Centre in the spotlight alongside prestigious institutions.”
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Manchester on 25 April 2019.
