Mitre Group Receives Glowing Report from Ofsted
Mitre Group has received a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors following their recent visit to the Derbyshire-based training provider. Mitre, which specialises in providing UK-wide apprenticeships, staff development courses and pre-employment programmes within the sports sector, received ‘good’ ratings across the board.
During the full inspection, which took place in March, inspectors looked in detail at all areas of the business, from the effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, to safeguarding, welfare and outcomes for learners. Ofsted found learners and apprentices receive “high-quality teaching” from Mitre’s “well-qualified and experienced” tutors leading to good progress and personal development.
The inspectors praised how “highly-motivated” Mitre’s learners are to achieve in employment, using the “valuable skills in customer service, employability, coaching, exercise and nutrition” they acquire. Ofsted also noted how “well prepared” apprentices are to continue their employment as sports coaches and physical education teaching assistants in schools.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection,” comments Jennie Bowmer, Managing Director, Mitre Group. “It reflects the hard work and dedication of our team at all levels of the business, as well as the achievements of our learners and apprentices right across the country. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent, specialised training within some of the UK’s leading sports clubs and community enterprises. This report demonstrates that the learners we work with are achieving fantastic outcomes within the world of work as a result of our programmes.”
Following a monitoring visit from Ofsted in 2018, the board and management team at Mitre has worked hard to keep improving its training provision. During March’s inspection, Ofsted found that “senior leaders have responded swiftly and effectively to the weaknesses identified during the previous monitoring visit.” It also praised how, “the board of directors is rigorous in challenging senior staff to improve rapidly the quality of provision.”
Jennie Bowmer adds: “We are really proud of the progress we’ve made over recent months and are excited about what the future holds for Mitre Group. Our priority is to continue to push ourselves and our learners to ever-greater achievements and strengthen the number of apprenticeship and training opportunities we can now offer to the fantastic organisations we work with.”
