Merseyside Performing Arts School Stages Auditions for New Musical Theatre Course
Liverpool Theatre School is on the hunt for the next generation of West End stars as it unveils plans for a new BTEC course in Musical Theatre. The Merseyside performing arts school is staging auditions on 12 May, where talented 16-18 year olds could secure a fully funded place on the two-year course.
During the auditions, which are free to attend, performers will be encouraged to show off their acting, singing and dancing skills in front of a panel and they will also be invited to take part in a short interview. The most gifted candidates, who can show they have natural flair and a passion for the stage, will be offered a full-time place on the course, which starts in September.
Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, said: “As one of Liverpool’s longest running performing arts schools, Liverpool Theatre School has been training up Merseyside stars for 80 years with graduates currently starring in hit shows from the West End to Las Vegas.
“We are the only training college in Merseyside to offer Trinity College London Diplomas in both Professional Musical Theatre and Professional Acting and we are absolutely thrilled to now be able to offer students a fully funded BTEC Diploma in Musical Theatre as well.
“The auditions are open to young people with ambition to perform on a professional level and we are hoping to discover some really gifted performers. The auditions are free to attend so I would urge anyone with talent to come along and show us what they can do.”
More than 90 percent of recent graduates from Liverpool Theatre School have gone on to achieve a professional stage career or pursue continued training. Alumni include Merseyside performers Carina Gillespie, who is appearing in Wicked in the West End, Tommy Sherlock, who is starring in Tenors of Rock in Las Vegas and Alex Patmore, who has just landed a lead role in Blood Brothers.
Auditions for a place on the three-year Trinity College London Diploma courses in Professional Acting and Professional Musical Theatre will also take place on 12 May. To secure a place at the Liverpool Theatre School auditions, applicants must register in advance.
