Loughborough College awarded grant to expand higher technical qualifications
As announced by the Department for Education today (13 Oct), Loughborough College (@LouCollJobs) is one of 100 educational providers who have received funding from the Growth Fund to purchase new equipment to support level 4 and 5 training.
Part of the National Skills Fund, The Growth Fund was set up to help providers invest in equipment and develop the business links they need to offer training in sectors with growing employer demand, such as digital, construction, health and science.
The fund will support providers to build capacity to grow high quality provision and raise the prestige of approved Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) amongst learners and employers. This is ahead of the first qualifications being taught in September 2023.
Jane Hunt, MP for Loughborough, said: “Many congratulations to Loughborough College on being awarded funding from the Growth Fund. The funding will help to equip students with the skills needed in several growing sectors, furthering the College’s offer for employers. In securing this funding, the College has yet again been recognised as a centre of excellence for providing high quality technical qualifications.”
Loughborough College will be purchasing equipment to support their Digital courses such as Computing – ‘Network Engineer’ and ‘Cyber Security’ pathways.
Jo Maher, Principal & CEO at Loughborough College, said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded funding to support the launch and delivery of our Higher Technical ‘Digital’ courses. At Loughborough College we pride ourselves on providing our students with access to cutting edge facilities alongside the highest levels of student support. This funding will enable the College to further expand into this important area, providing students and employers the resources they need, in order to fill the skills gaps of tomorrow.”
Higher Technical Qualifications are a high-quality addition to technical training routes, alongside apprenticeships.
