Kensington and Chelsea College hosts BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree Show @KC_College

An exhibition at Kensington and Chelsea College next week showcases the transformation of eight individuals from student to artist as they have studied for a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art. The show runs from 22-27 June at the Chelsea Centre, with a Private View on Thursday 21 June.

Over the course of this degree, the students were encouraged to dissect critique and develop their practices in order to further establish their own sense of artistic identity. This exhibition gives a glimpse into their artistic practices. It will feature a diverse range of work including painting, sculpture, installation and photography and explore an equally diverse range of ideas and issues, from the expanded field of painting to myths and legends. The show represents the ending of an informative chapter and the beginning of a new book.

Greg Rook, BA (Hons) Fine Art Top-up course director, comments:

“This is the fourth degree show of Kensington and Chelsea College’s BA (Hons) Fine Art Top-up. We are incredibly proud of this inclusive and exacting course. Originally conceived to provide individuals with diverse histories and backgrounds the opportunity to complete their degree as Fine Artists, we have found ourselves working with an inspirationally wide demographic. We try to instil confidence and a belief in their ability to negotiate an increasingly congested art world and these students have shown the required ambition. They have produced exemplary work for their final show and we congratulate them.”

The BA (Hons) Fine Art degree is validated by London South Bank University. It is a one-year top-up course following on from the HND Fine Art. This show is part of the Creative Collection, a series of exhibitions during May-July 2018 by students on various Creative Arts courses.
