Inspiring Barry College tutor Geoff awarded

Barry College Electrical Installation lecturer Geoff Shaw has received awards for his continuous commitment to the career and professional development of adult learners and apprentices.

Geoff won an award under NIACE Dysgu Cymru, the advocates of adult learning in Wales, for being an Inspiring Tutor and Mentor. His commitment to his learners and apprentices was recognised by City & Guilds, which also honoured Geoff with an award.

Barry College Head of Engineering Department, Richard Thomas, said: "Learners have benefited from training in a first-class facility and this, along with Geoff’s enthusiasm and high expectations, is reflected in consistently outstanding results.

"Geoff has helped provide life-changing opportunities that have made a real difference to people. Some former learners have gone on to set up their own businesses and are now beginning to send their apprentices to Barry College."
