Hilton celebrates top apprentices at national event #NAW2019
Elizabeth Hughes, Level 2 apprentice at Hilton Reading, named “Apprentice of the Year” during National Apprenticeship Week celebration.
Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has announced the winners of its prestigious National Apprentice awards. The ceremony was part of an event held during National Apprenticeship Week to celebrate the achievements of Hilton’s trainees.
Elizabeth Hughes, Level 2 Team Leading Apprentice at Hilton Reading, was crowned Apprentice of the Year in recognition of her outstanding progress and commitment to her role. The 20-year-old, who joined the team when she was 17, was commended for her passion and positive attitude, her ability to spot opportunities for improvement across the hotel’s operations, and the support she offers to new starters. Throughout her apprenticeship, she has built her skills and capabilities, making her a critical member of the team with a bright future in the industry.
Elizabeth Hughes said: “I’m thrilled to win Hilton’s Apprentice of the Year award! I love working in hospitality and would recommend Hilton’s apprenticeship program to anyone looking to learn new skills and build their experience in the industry. Since joining the team, my confidence has grown significantly, and I can’t wait to see where my career with Hilton will lead.”
Hilton enters its centenary year with a record number of apprentices employed across its hotels and corporate offices in the UK. More than 200 Team Members are currently working towards Level 2 and 3 qualifications. The company offers apprenticeships across areas including front desk, food and beverage service, conference and events, professional cookery, housekeeping, facilities management, exercise and fitness, and sales. It also recently introduced Level 4 and 5 apprenticeships, aimed to support those looking to progress to a departmental manager.
