Healthy Success for Borders College at Scottish Student Sport Awards 2018
Student President Douglas Jardine was on hand to scoop the college’s very first healthy Body Healthy Mind Award at this year’s Scottish Student Sport Awards, where a number of Scottish Colleges and Universities gathered to celebrate their sporting achievements.
The Healthy Body Health Mind Awards are a partnership initiative between NUS Scotland and Scottish Student Sport, funded by the Scottish government, which focus on the link between sports, physical activity, smoking prevention and mental health.
The college achieved their award by working in partnership with the Students’ Association on projects that improve wellbeing for everyone, including better signposting to student services and external organisations, maintaining our status as a smoke-free campus, and educating staff and students about good mental wellbeing.
Newly elected Student President, Douglas Jardine, was thrilled to receive the award on behalf of the College. ‘I’m really pleased to start the year with the Healthy Body Healthy Mind award. It’s great to work in partnership with the college, NUS Scotland and SSS on such a positive initiative, and we’re already planning to build on this great work by achieving more stars next year.’
