Design students from Bedford College are “Hand in Glove” with success

Two graphic design students from Bedford College attended the prestigious Plaisters Hall in the City of London to receive £750 in prize money from the Worshipful Company of Glovers’ safety poster competition held earlier this year.

The awards were presented by Oriole Cullen, Head of Modern Textiles and Fashion at the Victoria & Albert Museum and curator of the current “Dior – Designer of Dreams” exhibition.

First Prize was awarded to:

Jamie Parsons, 19, of Westoning who designed the ‘burn’ poster and received £500 in prize money.

Second Place was awarded to:

Daniel Port, 17, from Bedford who designed the ‘melting hand’ poster and was awarded £250 in prize money which he will put towards a holiday.

Both have just completed their second year of the Extended Diploma in Graphic Design.

Advanced Practitioner Jeffrey Tribe at Bedford College said:

“This is the 5th year we have won this national glove competition. It is common for our students to beat older and more experienced students from universities to the top prizes. We think that’s a pretty cool advert for our courses!”
