Greater Brighton Metropolitan College Architects shortlisted for prestigious @ArchitectsJrnal award
ECE Group shortlisted for prestigious AJ100 New Member of the Year Award
ECE Group, which designs and delivers architectural projects to the further education sector, has been shortlisted for the AJ100 New Member of the Year Award.
ECE Group, which comprises ECE Architecture, ECE Planning and ECE Westworks, has more than doubled in size since its formation in 2011 and provides services such as architectural design, interior design, masterplanning and town planning.
The Practice has secured resolution to grant planning permission for Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (GBMC) to consolidate and improve the college’s facilities, with work starting next month.
The approved masterplan consists of the combination of a new build extension and refurbishment of the Pelham plinth and tower that provides sufficient accommodation for the College – achieving a critical objective of consolidating the College into a single building.
This consolidation allows for the disposal of the College’s redundant accommodation to provide a capital receipt to fund the development. The Masterplan will be phased to ensure that the College can continue to operate successfully throughout.
The AJ100 is an annually released table compiled by the Architects’ Journal which provides a list of the UK’s 100 biggest architecture practices and is measured by the number of qualified architects employed.
The New Member of the Year title is awarded to the practice which entered the AJ100 for the first time in five-years and is judged based on its business success and the quality of its work.
In the last five-years, ECE has expanded from its studio in Worthing to open offices in London and Bristol, employing over 90 people and giving both qualified and aspiring architects exciting opportunities to be involved in realising the Practice’s projects.
Stuart Eatock, ECE Architecture Managing Director comments:
“In addition to making a number of senior appointments throughout the past five-years, we have also made significant changes to our working environment and culture. This, along with the ground-breaking projects we continue to design and build, has enabled us to attract and retain some of the very best talent the industry has to offer. The AJ100 is the benchmark of excellence for our industry so to be shortlisted for this prestigious award is a testament to our team and a significant achievement.”
ECE will be attending the AJ100 awards ceremony at the Pavilion, Tower of London on Wednesday 19th June where the winner will be announced.
