Futures Partners with UNISON to Provide Fully Funded Maths and English Training
Futures takes another step forward in closing the local skills gap with fully funded maths and English training for the employed.
As part of our ongoing mission to ensure all members of our communities have access to the training opportunities they need to thrive in their careers, Futures can now officially offer Maths and English qualifications, fully funded, to those in public sector employment.
This brand-new partnership with UNISON enables us to support those who are in employment, flexibly around work commitments and at the individuals pace, whilst still providing a dedicated virtual Skills Coach.
Maths and English barriers have been shown to not only impact an individuals’ ability to progress in a career but also have a significant impact in daily life and how they can support their children’s education.
UNISONs national ‘Skilled for Work’ survey found that 210,000 people were not confident to apply for a promotion because of their maths and English skills. With 130,000 not confident to even apply for a training course because of their current maths and English skills.
“Maths and English are the essential skills that all public sector workers need. Without them people don’t feel confident to cope with everyday life and to progress. It impacts on health, pay and general wellbeing so as a union we are passionate about removing these barriers wherever possible.”
