Fashion students visit new Whitworth exhibition
Fashion students from Clarendon Sixth Form College visited Whitworth Art Gallery to take inspiration for their latest project.
The students visited the ‘In the Land’ exhibition, which focuses on the post-war works of artists trying to create the feeling of being in the outdoors with texture, shapes and spaces.
The students’ visit was aimed at gathering research for their latest project ‘The Elements’, which draws on landscapes and scenery. The students took sketches and images of the artists’ work to help them produce a dress or garment inspired by the exhibition.
Jaqueline Roberts, fashion teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “The students had a fantastic visit to the Whitworth Gallery. They have gathered lots of inspiration for their pieces now and done plenty of research, preparing them in the best way possible to create their garments, just like a real industry fashion designer would have to do.”
Students’ work will be in display at Clarendon Sixth Form College’s creative industries fashion show in June 2018.
