South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Engineering Lecturer Awarded Biggar Prize for Highest Marks

Aine McGreeghan, an engineering lecturer at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) has been awarded the Biggar Prize in recognition of achieving the highest marks in the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Ulster University this year.

Aine, from Newtownards said, “I am delighted to have competed the PGCE, the one-year course is quite a commitment. Winning the Biggar Prize award is just the icing on the cake for me – throughout the year I pushed myself to do the best I could in the time available.”

Aine brings vast engineering knowledge and experience from industry, gained prior to joining SERC six years ago. On completion of an HND Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering and an entry to management programme, Aine worked for three years in the textile industry followed by 12 years with Caterpillar Inc in a variety of roles. Whilst there, she achieved the coveted Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt. She then gained a Level 5 Diploma in Management through SERC and a Masters in Business Improvement from UU. Aine became a CMI Chartered Manager in 2018.
