East Midlands Training Provider @CTSkills introduce Advanced Sports Apprenticeships for local schools
Apprenticeship training provider, CT Skills has successfully launched the Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical Education & School Sports, which is one of the first apprenticeships to be aimed at those who are already working within a school setting.
The Level 3 Diploma has been designed to support schools by raising their achievement rates through established programmes, tools resources and quality assurances which will enable schools and teachers to deliver a high quality level of physical activity in and out of the curriculum.
Since the government introduced the sugar tax, funds have been doubled and over £320 million have been invested in to PE and Sports across UK schools in order to develop the skills of those who work or aspire to work in a school environment.
Recent statistics found that qualified PE teachers in schools, improved their overall achievement rates by 91%, this is due to the teachers having the qualification to provide knowledge of working in school sports.
CT Skills Advanced Apprenticeship offers a bespoke set of modules which can be utilised within individual schools; a generic overview of the course includes communication and professional relationships, safeguarding and wellbeing of young people, planning and delivery of school sports programmes and organising sporting events.
Head of Business Development, Kam Penglin said;
“Studies have found that intensive exercise in schools boosts the performance of students in English, maths and science, as the physical activity improves the overall brain function. CT Skills are proud to be a part of a new wave in apprenticeships and are extremely excited to be working with leading schools across the East Midlands to provide a tailored approach in developing future sports leaders.”
Ben Leventon, Level 3 P.E & Sports Apprentice commented;
“The apprenticeship has been amazing for me. I never thought I would enjoy PE and School Sport as much as I have this year. I have massively grown in confidence around teaching a class, and hugely improved my knowledge.”
