Crafty Lichfield teacher launches creative venture following traumatic near death experiences

A former midwife turned teacher is branching out with a new venture which stems from her love of making crafty creations with her pupils in south Staffordshire.

And that’s not all…..

Julie Peters was also inspired to launch her new online business, Country Marketplace, after coming very close to almost losing her young daughter and mother within the space of just a few months last year.

In a bid to turn such negative trauma into a positive, she channelled her creative talents into making all year around high-quality faux silk floral wreaths.

While wreaths are only usually seen adorning doors at Christmas, Julie wanted to prolong the treasured memories of precious family time together by extending this festive joy with all year around colourful wreaths full of cheerful seasonal blossoms.

No stranger to hitting the headlines

This is not the first time the former neonatal nurse has hit the headlines.

In recent months she made the pages of local and regional press, both in print and online, for her creative work as the science lead at a Lichfield primary school.

With a vocation to inspire a love of science, technology, engineering and maths, or STEM, she’s run a range of fun and exciting competitions for her young pupils, including making famous buildings out of marshmallows and spaghetti.

Now the 52-year-old, of Yoxall, near Lichfield, is celebrating having a healthy happy family once again by launching her first ever start-up business by making and selling her one-off floral wreaths.

Hoping to fill a niche in the Staffordshire market

Usually only found in high-end online platforms, Julie is hoping to fill a niche in the market in South Staffordshire with her exquisite bespoke creations at www.countrymarketplace.co.uk.

Julie said: “I’m a strong believer in embracing creative fun as an inspiring way of teaching as well as helping mould young minds to develop a love of education.

“I love seeing the children getting so enthusiastic and involved in the STEM projects, and I really enjoy creating with them too, so that inspired me to launch my own creative venture.”

She added: “I’ve always made Christmas wreaths for friends and family and after having the horrible experience of two very traumatic near death experiences of my daughter and my mother I thought that this would be wonderful way to prolong that festive joy and keep the memories of treasured family time together alive through all the four seasons.”
