College Principal appointed to Government’s T Level employer panel
Principal of London South East Colleges, Sam Parrett OBE, has been appointed to one of the Government’s pioneering T Level employer panels.
Set up to help design content for the new T Level qualifications, the employer panels will ensure that the skills being taught to young people are the skills needed by businesses.
Sam has been selected to sit on the Human Resources panel with other experts from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. With a background and MA in HR & Organisational Development and eight years as an FE Principal, Sam’s expertise in this field will help shape the new Human Resources T Level. This qualification will be available to young people from 2022.
Nine new employer panels have been launched, joining the 16 already up and running. They cover a wide range of sectors – from animal care, agriculture and digital to engineering, hair and beauty, education, construction, design and many more.
Commenting on her appointment, Sam says:
“I am thrilled to be appointed onto a T Level employer panel. The introduction of T Levels will give young people an excellent alternative to A Levels and help to address the many technical skills gaps that the country is facing in so many industries.
“The expertise and experience of the people sitting on each employer panel will ensure that these world class qualifications are relevant and fit for purpose. I am delighted to be part of it and very much believe that T Levels will raise the perception and delivery of high quality technical education.
The first three T Level programmes in Digital, Education and Childcare and Construction will be taught from 2020, with further T Levels delivered from 2021.
