College offers free English and Maths training to upskill local workforce

Cheshire employers are urged to make most of the new courses at Macclesfield College which help employees with poor English and Maths skills.   

The College has launched free adult courses that lead to a nationally recognised qualification, in response to report by the Learning and Work institute for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation which revealed that five million adults aged 16-plus in England lack basic reading, writing and numeracy skills,

Run by Maxim Business Training, established by Macclesfield College in 2015 to support the skills agenda for local businesses, the bespoke Maths and English courses can be delivered directly in the workplace. The eight-week learning programmes require just one and a half hours per week of face-to-face tuition.

Benefits to organisations include reduced operational mistakes, increased workplace confidence and morale and improvements to overall business performance.

Macclesfield College’s Maxim Business Training team will provide all employees with initial diagnostic assessments to ensure they are given the right training, and once on the programme, all students will have comprehensive online materials to help with their studies.
