Tameside College Class of 2019 celebrate at graduation
Degree students celebrated their achievements, with their families, at Tameside College’s graduation ceremony on Thursday 5th December at Dukinfield Town Hall.
Students, families, teachers and VIP guests gathered at Dukinfield Town Hall, to mark the culmination of their studies.
Dr. David Powell, director of the education consortium at University of Huddersfield, delivered a speech to the audience on the value of lifelong learning and higher education.
Dr. Powell, said: “It is a great privilege to present graduates with their qualifications this evening. Many of you will have managed your courses alongside other commitments and your resilience and determination impresses me time and time again. I hope that this whets your appetite for further achievement in the future, as this is just one step along the path of development and education.”
Further education colleges play a crucial role in providing second or third chances to people from the local community to educate themselves. They are brilliant at walking alongside their students, nurturing their goals and putting in place the support they need to succeed.”
Jackie Moores, principal at Tameside College, said: “Tameside College helps students to grow in confidence, grow in ability and grow in ambition. However, this event is also a moment for you, the graduates, to reflect on your own success and to thank those who have helped you achieve that. I know the sacrifices you have made to be here this evening, congratulations.”
Councillor Brenda Warrington, leader of Tameside Council, also attended the event to congratulate the graduates.
With ever-growing demand for employees with higher-level skills and education, Tameside College is expanding its higher education offer with state-of-the-art facilities and new courses.
