Chloe’s successful learning journey begins with Traineeship

@PRPTraining – A shy school leaver has been transformed into a confident, self-assured employee after beginning her learning journey with the Welsh Government’s Traineeship Programme.

Chloe Harvey, 19, of Monkton, near Pembroke, linked up with learning provider PRP Training Ltd after deciding sixth form studies at school were not for her.

She enrolled on and achieved a Traineeship Level 1 in Business Administration, inspiring Chloe to believe in herself more.

As a result of Chloe’s new found confidence, she secured a placement with Genpower Ltd, Pembroke Dock where, after a nervous start, she impressed so much that the company created a new apprenticeship role so that they could employ her.

She has since completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in Business Administration, developing organisational, customer service and IT skills which have enabled her to adapt smoothly to working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now Chloe has been shortlisted for the Traineeship Learner of the Year (Level 1) award at the prestigious Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2021.

This annual celebration of outstanding achievement in training and apprenticeships will see 35 finalists compete in 12 categories for awards. The winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on April 29.

Highlight of the work-based learning calendar, the awards showcase businesses and individuals who have excelled on the Welsh Government’s Apprenticeship and Traineeship Programmes and gone the extra mile to achieve success during these unprecedented times.

The awards are jointly organised by the Welsh Government and the National Training Federation for Wales (NTfW). Openreach, the UK’s digital network business and passionate supporter of apprenticeships, has renewed its headline sponsorship of the awards.

The Apprenticeship Programme in Wales is funded by the Welsh Government with support from the European Social Fund.

Chloe plans to progress to an Apprenticeship in Business Administration when she returns to office-based working and is now helping to train Genpower’s new recruits.

She thanked PRP Training, which has delivered all of Chloe’s training, and Genpower for their support and encouragement which have enabled her to progress her career.

“My skills and confidence are growing all the time,” said Chloe. “Overall,  it has been a very positive learning experience and I look forward to further developing within my role.”

Laura Brockway, PRP Training’s senior vocational manager, said it had been very rewarding to watch Chloe blossom throughout her learning journey.

“Chloe developed both personally and professionally during her time with us, pushing herself to overcome fears and hurdles to achieve what she had set out to do.

“The transformation has been huge as she has grown into a confident and capable young woman. To see her self-assurance and confidence now makes my job worthwhile. We are all very proud of what she has achieved.”
