Cedar Service Users Celebrate Success with SERC at Prestigious Certificate Ceremony

Students who recently participated in South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) 24th Annual Summer Scheme attended an award ceremony receiving certificates presented by Lady Sylvia Hermon MP.

The summer scheme, designed for people with disabilities, encouraged participants to take part in a variety of creative activities and provides a stepping stone for some of the students to progress to further education in the College in September. 

This year’s scheme, which ran at the Bangor, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses, offered students a chance to undertake taster courses in woodwork, metalwork and cookery. 

To celebrate the success of the Summer Scheme a ‘Celebration of Achievement’ event was held in Bangor Campus on Friday 21st June 2019. All participants were presented with a certificate by Lady Hermon MP, Patron of the Summer Scheme, before enjoying an end of summer scheme lunch.   

SERC Principal and Chief Executive of SERC Ken Webb said:

“Congratulations to all the students who took part in the Cedar Summer School this year.   As well as having a taste of different programmes on offer, you will have had the opportunity to experience the fantastic facilities we have here at SERC and the hustle and bustle of College life.   We hope it has given you ideas for your future and the opportunities available here at SERC.”
