@CAVC tutor Kat is an inspirational award winner
Passionate tutor, Kat Keeble-Buckle, of Cardiff and Vale College, has been named as one of the Tutors of the Year in this year’s Inspire Adult Awards.
Kat will receive the award in a special ceremony at the University of South Wales’ Cardiff Campus hosted by TV and Radio presenter Nia Parry (Tues November 7) and recognising the cream of the profession.
The awards are organised by the Learning and Work Institute, advocates of adult learning in Wales, to celebrate the commitment, knowledge and communication skills that inspire adult learners every day across Wales.
Kat Keeble-Buckle is recognised for going the extra mile for her students after giving fashion students the opportunity to get involved in the Roald Dahl City of the Unexpected event and exhibiting student photographs at the Humans of Cardiff project. Kat has also helped her students raise hundreds of pounds for Velindre Hospital through making pillows for breast cancer patients.
Through her continued passion for her subject and students, Kat has now established the Fashion Styling Foundation Degree at Cardiff and Vale College.
Above all else, Kat has been recognised through the Inspire! Tutor Awards because of her commitment and passion for adult education. Her mantra is that ‘it is never too late to be what we might have been’ and that it is never too late to start something new.
Kat said: “Being passionate about what you do is infectious. It has a knock-on effect. Learners start to come out of their shells, their confidence builds and they become these epic shining stars.”
David Hagendyk, Director of Learning and Work Institute said: “Kat has shown outstanding commitment to her subject and to her students. Her passion for the opportunities of adult education and for giving her students different opportunities really shines through and she is really deserving of recognition at the Inspire! Tutor Awards.’
The campaigns are co-ordinated by the Learning and Work Institute and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Social Fund. For more information and advice on adult learning and the courses available ring the Skills Gateway for Adults free on 0800 028 4844.
