Cardiff and Vale College students cabin crew careers take off
Cabin Crew students from Cardiff and Vale College are celebrating new jobs with British Airways and easyJet, despite only starting their courses in September.
Emma Lewis and Charlotte Grindell have found employment with BA, while Hannah Davies has been taken on by EasyJet. The three students got the jobs after a lengthy round of online applications and testing followed by interviews.
“I applied for Thompson and British Airways as well but I really wanted easyJet because it’s based in Bristol and I wanted to be close to home,” 18-year-old Hannah from Cardiff said. “The course and the work I have done at the College have really helped me get this job, especially at the interview stage because they were asking me questions that related to what I’ve been doing on the course.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the College – it has given me good opportunities and has been a great starting point.”
Emma, who is 19 and from Cardiff, said: “I’m very excited to be working for BA – I cannot wait as it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. The course really was a help for me in getting the job I’ve always wanted.”
“It doesn’t seem real, but it’s amazing,” 21-year-old Charlotte from Cardiff said. “It’s my dream and I didn’t expect to get a job with BA – I only really thought I was going to the interview to gain experience.
“The course has been amazing, we wouldn’t have been able to get these jobs without it. The teachers are amazing, too – we have been learning from the best. A former student came in and talked to us about the sort of questions we’d be asked in the interview which was really useful. I can’t wait to come back to the College next year to do the same thing.”
Cabin Crew Lecturer Kay Davies said: “Lots more of this course group have interviews coming up, despite the fact that it’s so early in their course. This is one of the best groups I’ve had in terms of their commitment to the course and their team spirit.”
CAVC’s Cabin Crew courses are taught at the College’s renowned International Centre for Aerospace Training, based at Cardiff Airport. Students benefit from industry expert guidance and are able to practise in the fuselage of a Boeing 737.
