Cardiff and Vale College and Principality enter into unique partnership to boost student employability
Cardiff and Vale College has entered into a unique partnership with Wales’ largest building society to further boost the employability of its students.
In its first such collaboration with a further education institution, Principality Building Society will team up with CAVC as part of its Business Class Partnership which will see the two organisations working together over the next three years to ensure students are highly employable, as well as qualified.
Improving learners’ understanding of the world of work, raising awareness of potential career choices and sharpening their employability skills are just a few examples of how the partnership will benefit the College’s 20,000 students; alongside new initiatives such as the development of a foundation degree in Financial Services that the building society will help deliver.
The partnership will see Principality engage with learners from across the College’s portfolio of courses and enrichment initiatives. From enterprise events, a series of talks and customer service workshops to support for CAVC’s established rugby and football academies.
Principality will also provide live employer briefs to students; giving students opportunities for work experience by working towards a client-led brief on projects that can cover a variety of areas, involving students on a range of courses. It will also provide bursaries designed to help students who face financial barriers and might have difficulty covering travelling costs to work placements or other employment opportunities.
CAVC will also offer training for Principality staff, and the two organisations will collaborate on identifying and addressing recruitment challenges in the financial sector.

This partnership with Principality will help us boost the employability of our students, honing their business knowledge and awareness of financial issues, while also assisting a local employer to meet their workforce needs.
