Borders College employee is on top of the world with highest honour
‘Be Prepared’ is their motto, and this was somehow fitting for one Borders College employee when she received news that she was being presented with the highest possible honour given to a Scout leader.
Anne Whiteford, who lives in Edinburgh and is a Tutor/Assessor with Borders College Business Development Unit (BDU), will be presented with the Bronze Wolf Award for her services to the Scouts. Given in recognition to Scouters who have contributed exceptional, noteworthy and extraordinary service to the World Scout Movement, this award is the highest honour that is presented to a volunteer Scout leader throughout the world. It recognises the individual’s contributions, service, dedication, and many years of volunteer work in successfully implementing the Scouting program.
As quoted, the Bronze Wolf Award is “given to people that have provided a lifetime of selfless and voluntary service to the upliftment and service of youth and country” and, since the inception of the award in 1932, only 370 people have received it.
Anne commented:
“Scouting has been a tremendous influence in my life and I have had the privilege to work professionally at national and global levels for over 20 years. It has been tremendous fun. I have developed lifelong friendships and it has been instrumental in my personal and professional development. Receiving the Bronze Wolf Award is a huge honour.”
This is a huge honour and an amazing achievement for Anne, and testament to her many years of work and dedication to the scouting movement. Anne will formally receive her award in Egypt, early next year.
