BCoT hosts largest apprenticeship recruitment event
More than 300 people looking for apprenticeship opportunities visited Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) for its biggest ever Apprenticeship event. The recruitment fair on Monday 11 March from 4.30pm to 7pm also welcomed over 50 different employers and successfully brought a week of activities designed to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2019 to a close.
The college, which is a leading provider of apprenticeships, hosted a range of employers with apprenticeship opportunities including companies such as Vodafone, American Express, Fujitsu and The AA. People of all ages looking to start their career and find out more about how they can earn while they learn were able to talk directly to the employers about their vacancies, and get specialist advice from BCoT’s apprenticeship team, Aspiral Learning.
Lorraine Heath, BCoT’s Deputy Principal for Business and Head of Aspiral Learning said:
“We’re really pleased that this year’s event was so popular and that even more people are considering an apprenticeship as an option to progress their chosen career. We are privileged to work with a wide range of fantastic employers to enable people, both locally and nationally, to gain recognised qualifications, workplace experience and skills all while earning a salary”.
The AA’s Head of Learning and Development, Jane Hennequin, said:
“This was our second event at BCoT and again it did not disappoint. It was satisfying to learn that so many young people understood what an apprenticeship is and what they could achieve from one. It was a valuable opportunity to showcase our brand, our roles we have on offer and also meet local young people who could be our future talent as well as being our customers.”
BCoT’s Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair was just one of a number of events that ran in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Basingstoke ITEC, Basingstoke Consortium, Queen Mary’s College and The Careers & Enterprise Company to give people the chance to find out more about opportunities across the borough.
